Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, situated in the heart of Zululand, is the oldest protected game reserve in Africa. This is where Zulu kings such as Dingiswayo and Shaka hunted and put in place the first conservation laws creating a safe park where today the "Big Five" roam free. Established in 1895, The Hluhluwe and the uMfolozi Game Reserves offer accommodation with wildlife viewing as the prime attraction. One may drive oneself within the park on a network of public roads. Viewing hides overlook waterholes, enabling visitors to see animals at close range.
