Thanda Private Game Reserve has an "Out of Africa" styled luxury tented camp. Located some 23 kms north of the Hluhluwe Village/Game Reserve interchange on the N2 national road, Thanda Private Game Reserve is a Big Five park with a large number of herbivores and indigenous wildlife.

 

 

Accommodation

Thanda's tents are not quite the early pioneer’s style as per Ryder Haggard's Alan Quartermain, but rather way more opulent units, each with private bathrooms en suite, a private sun deck and a large bedroom/lounging area.

A romantic ambience is created with oil lamp lighting throughout, except for a bedside reading light and a central light in the bathrooms. Batteries may be charged at the Tented Camp office.

Game drives in open game viewing vehicles are conducted on the Thanda Game Reserve in the early mornings as well as late afternoons into the evenings, where spotlights are used to find some of the nocturnal species.

Thanda Game Rangers will add value to the game viewing experience, with interpretations of an animal's behaviour and more information with regards to a sighting.

A focus point of Thanda Private Game Reserve is to fully embrace the Zulu culture by including elements of it throughout all aspects of the lodge.

From the décor to the cuisine, guests will truly learn to appreciate the rich and still very much alive traditions of the amaZulu. This in turn adds benefit to the local Zulu people who live in the immediate area.
