Mtwazi Lodge is situated in the grounds of the renowned Hilltop Camp in the Hluhluwe iMfolozi Game Reserve, and boasts a magnificent setting under a large sycamore fig within its own secluded bushveld garden. Mtwazi Lodge exclusive use self catering 8 bed venue.

 

This eight-bedded lodge, once the original home of the warden of the reserve, features memorabilia from the rich history of the Hluhluwe Game Reserve.

 

Accommodation

The accommodation comprises three bedrooms, each with own private bathroom and an annex bedroom with its own shower and toilet. A sumptuous lounge and dining area lead out onto a large flagstone veranda, and from there into a magnificent tropical garden shaded by a gloriously spreading tree. Large outside braai (barbecue) area.

The Hluhluwe iMfolozi Game Reserve is Africa's oldest and lies in the heart of the Zulu Kingdom, where ancient trails lead through the thornveld and along the mighty rivers of what was once the exclusive hunting ground of King Shaka.

Here close encounters with wildlife on foot or in a vehicle are the order of the day.

Mtwazi is a self-catering facility which is serviced once a day. The services of a caretaker is included in the tariff. One may also choose to dine at the nearby Hilltop Camp restaurant.

There is no backup generator during loadshedding and no additional lighting is supplied. We suggest you bring your own backup lighting. The loadshedding has caused various utilities to malfunction, in particular air-conditioning units.

***Please note that although the water is suitable for bathing and cooking, it is recommended that one does not drink the water and to buy or bring your own supply.

Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife have decided to implement a ban on visitors bringing firewood into any of their Reserves.
Visitors can still purchase firewood from the curio shop that have been safely sourced from Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer -free areas.

We are only a booking service to secure accommodation at a number of the Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife park accommodation venues. We are in no way responsible for the condition of the facilities. Far and Wild Safaris has no control over the allocation of units and their condition. Should you choose to visit these venues and subsequently find fault with the accommodation and or service, we are only able to forward your comments to the Park authorities. There is no compensation for this status quo should it not meet your expectation. Please contact ourselves should you require further clarification.
