Hluhluwe River Lodge and Adventures, is an accommodation facility which consists of 12 x A Frame Chalets, sleeping a maximum of 28 guests, and is adjacent to the iSimangaliso Wetland Park and close to the World famous Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park in Zululand.
Hluhluwe River Lodge at a Glance
Accommodation There is a main lodge complex with a dining room, bar lounge, a formal lounge and library, all set around an open terrace, which commands a lovely view of Lake St Lucia’s False Bay and the Hluhluwe River floodplain. Dinner is served in the dining room or if weather permits, outside in the iSibaya (Boma) or alternatively on the terrace. Breakfasts are generally served on the veranda. Hluhluwe River Lodge is a comfortable lodge, with only 12 chalets sleeping a maximum of 28 guests at any one time. There is a choice of accommodation, from the eight twin standard Chalets, the two family Chalets and then the two luxury chalets/honeymoon suites. Standard Chalet Air-conditioned thatched A-frame timber chalet, twin beds, chairs, writing desk and a deck. The bathroom is made up of an en suite shower and separate toilet, a vanity unit with one basin, a large mirror and shaving plug. The chalet is equipped with a mini bar as well as a tea and coffee facility. Family Chalet Luxury Chalet Air-conditioned thatched A-frame timber chalet with an expansive deck area, chairs and coffee table. The king size bed is draped with romantic mosquito netting. The bathroom has an en suite shower and separate toilet, a vanity unit with two basins, mirror and shaving plug. A Victorian bath is placed just off the main bedroom area with views out into the forest. The chalet is equipped with a mini bar as well as a tea and coffee facility. There are two comfortable cane chairs, a writing desk, a large suitcase rack, clothes cupboard, telephone and digital safe. The central living area of Hluhluwe River Lodge’s main building has a lounge, dining room and bar, which overlooks a delightful indigenous garden and the panoramic Lake views. The expansive terrace which has 180 degree views of the Hluhluwe River floodplain and False Bay beyond. The rooms are set in the indigenous forested garden. Hidden away is a swimming pool in a secluded spot away from the main guest area. An ideally located accommodation venue, enabling guests to enjoy the variety of activities offered in the area. Breakfasts and lunches are relatively flexible and should suite most guests’ activity timings. Dinners are la carte with a local flair, mains ranging from fish, poultry to a variety of meats, including our signature venison dishes. Vegetarians and guests with special dietary requirements should specify their needs on or prior to arrival. Dinners are served at a variety of venues, under the stars in our outside 'iSibaya' area when weather conditions permit, on the main lodge terrace, or the cosy dining room. Our local barman will be glad to recommend a choice from his extensive wine list from various South African wine estates. Activities These guided game drives are conducted by an independent tour operator and not by Hluhluwe River Lodge, that merely arranges them. Guests will be obliged to drive to the start point of the drive (this varies, but most likely to the Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park’s Memorial Gate). This excursion is non-refundable and may not be changed for another activity. Game drives are also available to DBB guests at an additional cost.
